I’m very happy to have found Q4OS with SSE support, my laptop runs with Q4OS even better than Windows Xp or Windows 7 Pro I tested before. I think I still can use 90% of the computer I used to work many years ago as an old multimedia viewer and some specific tasks. Wine not always work as I desired, but many windows software are still usable. 480 Mbps Wifi USB speed reached on my laptop is better than 100 Mbps using LAN speed built inside the laptop. Not really fast LAN or WIFI speed can be reached with good USB adapters, but enough to open an online web mail browser or text pages. Insert this kind of USB devices before you install, usually they don’t need installation disk or download third party software, Q4OS configures them automatically. Old computers usually lacks WIFI and Bluetooth. Western Digital Compact Flash seem to be the only recogniced cards for linux, formatted on vFAT. Old 20 Gb could be not enough storage and they are slow. Change your old IDE internal disk for a IDE adapter M.2 disk and expand your storage.

Only microphone and output drivers are not working well under Q4OS on my laptop but maybe could work for you.ĭVD self-installation drivers works fine, do not use 3.0 PCMCIA cards to expand USB, only 2.0.

Not to be surprised Youtube cannot work properly on line, but once you download videos at 360p maximum you really be not very disappointed at all playing them offline.
SMPlayer comes back to life your old and powerless laptop graphic card. Try debian Q4OS ver 3.9.1 32 bits, I’m using a Toshiba 3000 PIII and really works fine PaleMoon default version 21 found on Synaptics program installer built inside. My advices and experiences for owners of Pentium III laptops with at least 512 Mb of RAM: (I own a Toshiba Satellite 3000 PIII-M)
